I’ve had the fortunate opportunity in my travels to meet some of the coolest bloggers out there and I have to say, I’ve heard some excellent ideas for potential new blogs. Like any business startup, great ideas are where it all begins. But after you’ve had that initial next big blog idea, start moving forward with plans to help protect your concept.
Here’s a couple of short steps I recommend for moving forward with your blog ideas and concepts.
1. Great ideas happen everywhere. Be sure you’re able to write your new idea down – or at least be able to make some notes – so you can follow up later. I always jot notes on my phone or sketch some design ideas out on a notepad. Mainly because I tend to learn by writing but it’s always a good idea to create sort of an idea box so when you’re ready to put the rubber to the road, it all falls into place.
2. Start taking steps to protect your idea or concept. I’m not necessarily advising to run out and spend a lot of money on a trademark – although it never hurts – but do start looking for potential domain names for your blog concept.
Critical Advice: If a domain name is available the first time you search for it, register it. Even if it’s maybe not “The One”. Domains go fast and you don’t want to lose a potential good one for what is just a $10 investment.
3. Move quickly. Like I mentioned above, start to act on your plans and move quickly. Chances are, if you think it’s a good idea it’s probably a winner for someone else too. There can be competition but for a startup blog, it can just make things harder in the beginning.
I hope these three tips help empower you to start your blog business journey. If you have any questions, feel free to either leave a comment below or hit me up on the contact page of this website.
